I remember having many classes with Randa in HS, but mainly gym class. She was an awesome basketball player, even though girls only played half-court. She was always so sweet and had a great smile. We lost touch after high school. I did see her again at the services for Debbie Carroll.
Randa and I attended Douglass School together from kindergarten until 3rd grade. We became great friends then. I lost touch with her after I left Douglass until I encountered her again at WHHS. Our friendship had cooled by then. Randa and I had a running "friendly" argument that lasted until the last time I saw her: I was sure she broke my arm in 3rd grade because I was doing a favor for another girl. She denied it. And we never could resolve it. In the late 70s, Randa and I eventually would work at the Arts Consortium together. She and I still were not the best of friends, but while at the Consortium, I saw Randa as a passionate woman of faith and strong beliefs. I respected that about her even though our friendship had descended to an acquaintanceship. She was a strong woman. RIP
