Dear Classmates,
I wanted to let you know about the series that I have been working on for much of the last year: THE STORY OF US WITH MORGAN FREEMAN for National Geographic.
The six one-hour episodes follow Morgan Freeman as he travels the globe in search of an answer to one fundamental question: What are the common forces that bind us togethe
SOME OF MY FAVORITE STORIES
*Darryl Davis, an African-American musician from Maryland, who has sought out members of the KKK to talk about race. From the “Us and Them” episode.
*Two remarkable people from Rwanda, a man and woman, Mariya and Filbert, who are now friends, living in a “reconciliation village.” They have become friends in spite of the fact that Filbert, a Hutu, was part of a group who killed Mariya’s husband and sons, who were Tutsis, in the Rwanda genocide in 1994. From “The Fight for Peace” show.
*Mabrouka Khedir, one of the first journalists to cover the uprisings in Tunisia that became the Arab Spring in 2011. From “The Rebel Spirit” episode.
*Joshua Coombes, a hairdresser who gives haircuts to the homeless on the streets of London. From the “The Power of Love” episode.
