What a great person, what a great friend.  We dated briefly at Walnut Hills, we remained good friends through college and then went our separate ways.  I don't think I saw her again until our 25th reunion and she and Cindy (my wife) and I sat down and talked for quite a while.  She had been through quite a bit but the strength of character and resilience shone through.  I thought then "this lady has quite a bit left to do in life".

Of course, our next reunion was our 50th birthday party.

 She wasn't there.

What a pity.

Kind, caring, fun-loving, sweet, so nice, friendly, beautiful--these are the adjectives that quickly come to mind when I think of Susie. She was always fun to spend time with-- sleep overs, cheering on our Eagles on the sidelines of the atheletic fields, Peanuts, you name it. Susie was taken from us far too soon. She is forever missed.

I loved going over to her home with one of her best friends (and mine too) Nancy Stillpass. She was one of the most beautiful people, not just on the outside but also on the inside. Her father ,optometrist Herschel York, was and is a really cool dude. When I saw her spitting image sister, Kathy, at our recent reunions, i was stunned at the resemblance.  Susie will always remain in my memory as the friendly, beautful cheerleader, with a personality as large as the World.

Susie was a good friend when we were young.  Her family had enormous Great Danes, and one night when I was sleeping over at Susie's and her parents were out, one of the Great Danes started giving birth.  Susie and I were hysterical, calling emergency phone numbers, trying to reach a vet to find out what to do.  Meanwhile, the dog calmly had her puppies without any help - certainly without ours!

Susie was warm, fun, beautiful, a great friend. I was so sorry to hear about her passing - much, much too soon.
