John's obituary is Post #6347 on the Message Forum.

I didn't know John. He transfered to Withrow after ninth grade. But, it is increasingly difficult to learn of the passing of another former classmate and contemporary. Our mortality is looking us straight in the face. Perhaps this is a good enough reason for us to join together in Cincinnati at our June 9-10 reunion and celebrate what we are so fortunate to have. Life!

It's not too late to RSVP. The final deadline date has been extended to May 30.

Stephen (Steve) Dixon

John and I became friends in the 2nd Grade at Mt. Washington Elementary. I always called him Adams, and he always called me Dixon. It's what we did back then.

We both came to Walnut Hills in the 7th Grade but, as Gail's fine tribute notes, John transferred to Withrow after 9th Grade. In the summer of 1963, both his dad and mine were transferred to Atlanta by AT&T, and John and I were at the same school again, in exile, in a place far different than either Withrow or Walnut.

Although we both moved all over the place over the next few years (me in college and then working, John in college and then in the Navy) we stayed in touch. I saw him once every three or four years when we would both be in Atlanta visiting our parents at the same time. I got to know his wife, Linda, and, eventually, his two daughters.

When Ashland Oil transferred me to Atlanta, John knew where to find me whenever he came back to visit his parents. And when the old Mt. Washington group started to get together in various vacation spots, we saw one another more often. He was always the same jolly, caring, thoroughly amenable friend who made every encounter an instant recapture of the great days of our youth. I won't describe all the crazy stuff we did when we were boys growing up (theoretically). Suffice it to say, we survived, and we had a lot of fun.

Adams...you will be missed.
