Comments:

I had the most fantastic English teacher anyone could ever have in my 7th grade at Walnut Hills High School. My 8th grade English teacher was also wonderful. I also learned touch typing, which I use all the time, more and more in fact, as I have started to write as a hobby and as a profession. I was a majorette because my best friend at the time, Nancy Kemp, asked me to join her group. I was cold and somewhat clumsy on the football field on Friday nights, but I did enjoy the excitement generated by the football games. It was sad that I didn't learn about World War 1 and World War 2 in high school, because it caused me a problem when I was in college. Also, when I read the book HIROSHIMA, I didn't know why my country dropped these bombs because I didn't know the history behind it.

School Story:

The first school I went to after I graduated was the University of Michigan. I was involved in the first teach-in about the Vietnam War. I became convinced that it was wrong, so I participated in the March on Washington the following spring. I also spent a weekend in a bomb shelter. It was a hard year, and I didn't stay in Michigan. In November 1965, I married my fiancee, who had gotten a job as an assistant professor of Chemistry at UICC, the university that later became UIC. We moved to Chicago, which I didn't like because it was colder and flatter than Cincinnati. There are some things that I don't like about the hilliness of my home city, but it looks more interesting because of the hills. After 4-5 years, I left my professor husband and had many adventures and misadventures afterwards.
