Welcome to the Walnut Hills High School Class Of 1964 forums. Please press "Post Response" to participate in the discussion.

Here's a tip: if you are going to post anything longer than a sentence or two to any page on this site, then you want to be sure that you don't lose what you are writing if something goes wrong before you submit your post.

The easiest way is to compose your post in an offline program that lets you save your text locally -- a program such as Microsoft Word or Notepad.   As you write your material there, be sure to save it locally every five or ten minutes.   Then, when you are done, you can copy the text and post it on whhs64.org

This is a pretty cool way to communicate.  Looking forward to many of our classmates to start using this site prior to our virtual reunion.    Gene Stern

Hi, from Budapest...a rainy Sunday evening.  But earlier in the day we were able to drive south to Lake Balaton, see a bike race and dine at our favorite lakeside restaurant with our Hungarian friends. Shortly we head out for dinner with other Hungrian friends......travel log seems to revolve around food and friends, and sitting! I am afraid to say that tho the food has been great, we are ready to go food-free for a while! After our 2 weeks in Slovenia and 5 days here, the month of April I think I will not cook anything.  Hope everyone enjoys spring.....How's the site doing, Dick?  Anything I should work on?  Tina Preuninger Hisrich

Well, well, well! You know me, the social media queen. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even Snapchat were getting a little passé. Now, I have a new venue to explore.
I can't wait to interact with my classmates again, virtually or otherwise. Thanks for putting this together. It should be a lot of FUN!!!

This whole website idea for our class is really cool.  I find myself at it very frequently checking everyone who has something posted!  I'm amazed at all the things classmates are involved in.

Paul, I am having lunch with Ann tomorrow in San Francisco. I'll be sure to tell her to login and opt-in. Good to see you on our website!

Thanks Gail. She's one of the people in our class that Bruce Springsteen could write a tune about. Come to think about it everyone in that class qualifies - we were quite a bunch of individuals, each with their own wild streak!

Hey folks,

I know you have noticed there are now 28 names in the "in memory" section.  That number is not going to get smaller.  These people live in our memories.

Bring them to life with your recollections.

Nelson

Nelson..A poem, goes "We are the rememberers, the people left behind, to keep the one who's gone from us alive in heart and mind, the people left to cherish and preserve a legacy. Yes, we are the rememberers...and we will always be." Every one of the people listed was a valued classmate. I hope they all enjoyed full lives.

I am really enjoying looking at everyone's profiles, especially the pictures.  I'm kind of seeing a trend with some of the gentlemen, proudly holding large FISH.  Is this some tribute to our favorite substitute teacher Mr. Fish?  Just an observation.

FYI - 1964 is the last year quarters were made from pure silver. Also, up to that year half-dollar pieces were 90% silver. I'm not one to read meaning into coincidences, so this is irrelevant to anything concerning the WHHS class of '64. Just an interesting factoid.

After reading many stories about school on all the different individual pages, I decided it might be a good idea if students added interesting stories regarding incidents they had with teachers at WHHS.

I do have a story to add here.  It didn't occur while in school, but much later.  It was during my years working for Social Security.  Frequently I dealt with Mr. Glesen about his Medicare.  He always called me Mrs. Goldman - my name at the time.  I told him to call me Nancy and he said - no, I was working in my professional capacity and should be treated with respect.

It was some time later that we had our 20 year reunion.  I called him and invited him to the Sunday picnic as my "family" and he accepted.  I had a great time watching him interact with classmates.  He totally enjoyed himself.

Anybody interested in a thread of "favorite teachers"? Could we have a sort-of contest? Like, who gets the most points?

I'm getting kind of down about those from our class who are no longer with us. I was shocked by some of them. My husband passed away nearly 9 months after Lynn Levinson (z"l), but I still have not recovered, I guess. I would like to get frivolous and get away from the feelings. Just to add I have nothing but respect and fond memories of Steve as being a real nice guy. There is nothing personal here about Steve, it's my "problem".

Anyone with me about the favorite teachers?
